In my eyes, the reason abstract art is so beautiful is because it draws more from the subconscious. There is not necessarily any elements of reality, but can be inspired by reality. It can be beautiful to look at…or off putting even…or harsh…colorful….dark-but it’s just completely different and kinda shattering against what art is “supposed” to be. People always say a child could do that-but that is kind of the point, of having something messy or obscure, or even childish because it represents that completely free side of the mind that we are told to shut away.

Purple is the color of regal-and royalty. I began this painting at a time a more difficult time in my life. I chose colors that embody confidence, royalty, the feminine and masculine all coming together. It was a compass that guided me into light. I’ve since erased the face multiple times-only leaving the eyes-which, are the true windows to one’s soul.
